An informal gathering for coffee and conversation, simply stated, is what Klatch Coffee is. For more than 25 years, Klatch Coffee has been serving up award-winning coffee with great conversation. Based in Los Angeles, this family business started out of a love for great coffee with one retail store and has evolved into a global wholesale roaster with its coffee featured daily on three continents and a retailer with 6 locations (and counting).

‘Peak of Flavor’

We roast to the ‘Peak of Flavor’, a specific roasting profile that Mike, a Chemical Engineer graduate, has honed in since he first started roasting coffee in the early 1990’s. To roast, we start out with a high-standard, set roasting parameter (base) based on the varietal/origin. We’ll cup (taste) the coffee multiple times through the different batches to get the right result. From that base we test and change the different variables to get the right roast. For example, we might manipulate the profile curve to create caramelization. We always start with the top 1% quality of coffee which helps as a great starting point.

Origin

We source all our coffee beans, with Mike’s traveling spoon he cups coffee. We work close with the producers to harvest the high quality we offer. Each bean is hand picked to ensure it is perfectly ripe.

Direct Trade

Our relationships with Direct Trade Coffee is designed to meet the needs of private, family coffee farms and co-ops in today’s market. We pay a base value that must exceed the higher of the C Market value and or Fair Trade value by at least 25% with a minimum paid to the farmer of 1.75 per pound. We work with and offer our support to these skilled producers for offer only the highest-quality specialty coffee.

Pour Over

Brewing manually puts you in greater control of these elements. Each new brewing device was an opportunity to discover something new about coffee and eventually that path leads to the producer, their communities, their countries and politics, their religion, and philosophies. This gives you a connection with your coffee.

Our Belle is our highest rated espresso blend with 94 points by coffee expert Kenneth Davids of Coffee Review. Ken tried 40 espressos and rated over 30 espresso blends, placing Belle on top.
Belle Espresso is one of our favorites in our coffee houses as it adds great balance when used with milk based drinks. This decadent espresso has notes of blackberry, chocolate, and brandy with a creamy body and a sweet finish. The flavors layer with hints of orange citrus and spice.
